About Dr. Dan
As a Master Level practitioner of Active Release Technique, Dr. Dan Rukeyser has over two decades of experience treating athletes at every level of competition. A sought-after Instructor, Dr. Dan helps doctors and therapists improve their clinical skills.
Specializing in diagnosing and correcting complex movement problems so active people can keep training at a high level and protect their long-term health.
After selling his Florida Practice, Dr. Dan spent almost four years in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. During his years in Costa Rica, Dr. Rukeyser’s practice evolved through extensive work with world-class surfers, mountain bikers, and as team physician for the Costa Rican World Cup Pickleball Team. Practicing in an environment with limited access to traditional orthopedic care, he refined a diagnostic and performance-based approach that emphasized self-sufficiency, movement quality, and return to sport. This experience led to a core clinical insight: many musculoskeletal conditions are overtreated and undertrained — a gap his current model is designed to address.

I’ve trained seriously for years — primarily the powerlifts, kettlebells, and most recently a sprinting initiative — and my body let me know it wasn’t thrilled about the new demands. By the time I walked into Dan’s office, my left ankle, left hip and groin, and neck were all complaining at once. I came in for long‑term maintenance, but I needed real help in the moment. What sets Dan apart is his process, which is as thoughtful as it is effective. First, he listens — truly listens — as you describe what you’re feeling. Then he watches you move, not to chase symptoms but to understand the actual problem. From there, he guides you through targeted exercises and movement patterns, only using chiropractic adjustments when they’re genuinely needed. And when he does adjust, his approach is precise, subtle, and highly skilled. Finally, he sends you home with exercises designed to eliminate the issue long‑term, not just patch it up. I’ve seen practitioners all over the country, and Dan’s ability to assess movement is world‑class. His traditional chiropractic skills are top‑notch, but his diagnostic eye and movement expertise are on another level entirely. The experience is personal and one‑on‑one from the moment you walk in. After just a few visits, the issues that brought me in are behind me — and I know exactly what to do to keep them that way. My lifting and sprinting both feel better than ever. I’ve known Dan since 2008. We used to train together, and he’s a rare combination of raw strength (he’s deadlifted over 500 pounds) and deep endurance (multiple Ironman finishes). But even more impressive than his physical accomplishments is his character. Dan lives his values. He puts his wife and son first in a way that you do not witness in today's world — it’s simply who he is. You can feel that integrity the moment you interact with him. Your visit with Dan will be worthwhile regardless of what physical challenge you’re facing. I recently returned to Florida in 2026, and reconnecting with Dan — and knowing my health is in his hands — is one of the things I’m most grateful for. If you’re looking for someone who combines elite skill, genuine care, and unwavering character, Dan is the chiropractor you want. Dr. Dan is one of the best people to go to if you are experiencing on going pain that doesn’t seem to ever go away. He listens to what you are dealing and analyzes how your body responds. I have been working with him for a few weeks now and have noticed a significant improvement with my hip/lower back pain. Really appreciate trying to find the root of the problem and then re training my body the correct way to improve my athletic performance. Teresa SmarrTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had two major spine surgeries that resulted in nerve damage in my leg. I learned of Dr Dan from a functional medicine Dr in Costa Rica. I had what he called nerve entrapment. After 5 or 6 treatments almost all pain is gone. Im back to walking between7 and 8 miles a day. I may book a flight to Florida to continue treatments 😃 Steven struwasTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
